GRETCHEN STERBA is a chicago-based journalist with nearly a decade of experience specializing in a variety of culturally relevant people and hot topics. she received her bachelor’s in creative writing and multimedia journalism from columbia college chicago, and her master’s in education from roosevelt university.
gretchen's writing is non-linear, like her interests — from prison reform to diversity in hollywood to features from local and national talent, she gravitates towards what people are doing and how it’s affecting the community around them.
in addition to writing, she organizes quarterly letter writing events in an effort to help incarcerated individuals overcome the isolation and erasure they face, as well as build community with other community members who are interested in dismantling the prison industrial complex.
